Step at home!

This is an at home aerobic step workout system for people obsessed with step.
Project: Forever is a set of MP3 audio files with pre-recorded step cueing. Unlike other recorded content, our audio tracks are modular and the library keeps growing. Tracks can be put in any order, and for any length of time. Below are four select tracks to give you a flavor of what this is all about.

Are you looking for a step workout at home?

The Project: Forever Free Sample

This sampler set was put together to give you a flavor of my classes, without having to be there in person.  In the age of the pandemic and closed gyms, we need an at home aerobic step solution we can be happy with.

Enter Project: Forever.

You now have access to the most advanced step program at your fingertips, without having to go to the gym. More importantly, if you are new to aerobic step, these tracks can be used to coach your way to being an advanced stepper. In the past, the only way to do this was to show up to regularly scheduled gym classes and learn as much as you could, little by little.

Project Forever Vol. 1 audio tracks range from simple to very complicated. The intention is not to overwhelm, but rather build a familiarity. Therefore, this sampler focuses on simplicity.

If these tracks are too simple for you, Project Forever Vol. 1 tracks are more complex and more combinations are put together back to back.

If these tracks are at your level and you would like more like this, the Starter Series is tailor made for you.

How does it work?

First, download the tracks and load them in your favorite music player.

Next, find a clear, safe place to workout. Outside is a beautiful choice, look for a large flat area.

Draw a chalk rectangle 36" wide by 16" deep. Of course, if you own an aerobic step bench, use that.

Before you begin each track, watch the video on this page. Do not try to memorize the patterns, just use the video for reference if you do not understand a cue.

Here comes the fun, play the music through some headphones (I highly recommend airpods).

Follow the cues on the track. Don't try to memorize a pattern, rather listen and execute the move as they are called in rhythm. Don't beat yourself up about mistakes, take your time. The important thing is to be moving! This gets easier over time.

After going through all four tracks, and you feel confident you can do them without the video reference, use them for your cardio workout. Play them in any order that you want. They can be repeated to build a workout as long as you wish.

Ways to adjust the intensity of your step workout:

  • Turn up the volume!
  • Add bench risers
  • Big movement with the arms
  • High knees and kicks
  • Use the choreography to get far away from the bench
  • Increase the tempo

How do I change the tempo?

For iOS, we use an app called Tempo Magic. It is a music player for gym instructors that lets you adjust the speed of the music.

For Android, we use Music Speed Changer since Tempo Magic does not exist on this platform.

Where can I find a step bench?

These days, the best place to find a bench if from Amazon. There are lots of choices. I have written a comparison article of some models I recommend.
